There are a large number of Bollywood songs in existence that express the feelings of jilted lovers. The degree of frustration depends upon the degree of jolt that the spurned lover gets from his beloved.

“Mera Naam Joker” was a labour of love for Raj Kapoor and he had made this movie with great hopes and expectations. Unfortunately, the story was ahead of its times and the Indian movie watchers were not ready for such movies in 1970. The movie flopped and Raj Kapoor suffered great losses as a result.

The movie “Goonj Uthi Shehnaai” has so many evergreen songs that one loses count. I have posted one of them in my blog so far, and there remains another half a dozen or so songs from this movie that deserve to be posted.

I have posted two songs from “Bambai ka Babu” in this blog, and readers will agree that both of them were great songs. But as far as Binaca geetmala of 1960 was concerned, the most popular song from this movie was yet another song viz ” Chal ri sajni ab kya soche”.

“Samjhauta” was a movie that went unnoticed. Many people may not even have heard of this movie or its songs. Personally I heard its title song viz “samjhauta ghamon se kar lo”, but I have not been able to locate its video.

“Chor Machaaye Shor” was one movie that helped many careers. One was that of Shashi Kapoor, who suddenly found himself in such great demand after this movie that he signed up over 70 movies and he started giving “dates” for his shootings by hours , rather than shifts.

The movie “Pavitra Paapi” is by and large forgotten. The fact that this movie had the lyrics and music by Prem Dhawan is also not known to many. But this forgotten movie has a song that is extremely well known.

This is an absolutely wonderful evergreen song sung by Umadevi. This song was picturised on an actress called Munawwar Sultana. The actress as well as the singer are no more around, but this song has easily become immortal.
