While watching very old movies, one big attraction for me is to watch how places looked like in those days. It is especially for this reason that I watch movies of 1950s and earlier.

“Basant Bahar” is a movie that was based on the subject of music itself, like “Baiju Baawra” before it. As can be expected, such movies were full of songs. And all these songs have easily become immortal. There are so many such songs in each of these movies hat one is just amazed. And one thinks about it, all these songs were composed more than half a century earlier. This is what is called longevity. And these songs will not get forgotten anytime soon.

Wow! It is a gem that has been forgotten by most people though it should not have been the case. It is an outstanding song in every count. Asha Bhonsle and Geeta Dutt, the two outstanding singers of that era, sing together in this song. Shailendra is the lyricist and
S D Burman is the music director. And they are at their best in this song.

“Samjhauta” was a movie that has been forgotten by now. And it is unfortunate that its songs have been forgotten too. The movie has not one but two great songs, one sung by Rafi, and another by Kishore Kumar, and unfortuntely both songs are difficult to come by, be it their video or just audio. And it is a shame really.

Going by the lyrics, I have classified this song as a love song, but it appears that the love is unilateral in this song despite this being a duet. The hero, Joy Mukherjee is since in expressing his love for the lady, but the lady, Sadhana is just playing along, without feeling the same sentiments.
